ED is common, and it's treatable
Erectile dysfunction affects an estimated 30 million men in the United States. It is a medical condition, not a character flaw, and it usually has a cause that can be found and treated.
Our ED treatment is for men who have trouble getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sex, whether it started recently or has been building for years. We see men in their thirties through their seventies and beyond: men who have never talked to anyone about it, men whose pills have stopped working as well as they used to, men with diabetes or heart conditions who want to know what is safe for them, and men recovering from prostate surgery.
Every plan starts with understanding why it is happening, so treatment fits your body and your health rather than a one-size prescription.
ED is rarely down to one thing. Often a physical cause and the worry it creates feed each other. ED can also be an early sign of a circulation problem elsewhere in the body, so it is worth having checked.
Blood flow and heart health
The most common physical cause. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking and narrowed arteries all reduce the blood flow an erection depends on.
Diabetes
Over time, high blood sugar damages both blood vessels and nerves, which is why ED is common in men with diabetes.
Medications
Some blood pressure medicines, antidepressants and other prescriptions can cause or worsen ED. The right plan works around them.
Stress and anxiety
Performance anxiety, stress, depression and relationship strain can cause ED on their own or make a physical cause worse.
Nerve damage and surgery
Pelvic surgery, including prostate surgery, and conditions that affect the nerves can interrupt the signals that start an erection.
Treatment options
Three ways we treat ED
After your evaluation, your physician recommends the approach, or combination, that suits your health and your preferences. Here is who each one tends to suit and what to expect.
ED medication
Oral medicines such as sildenafil and tadalafil relax the blood vessels in the penis so that blood can flow in when you are aroused. They don't cause an erection on their own.
Who it suits: most men as a first step, as long as they don't take nitrate medicines for chest pain and their heart health allows it. What to expect: a prescription after your evaluation, clear instructions on timing and side effects, and a follow-up to adjust the dose or switch medicines if needed.
Injection therapy delivers a prescribed medicine directly into the side of the penis with a very fine needle. It works on the blood vessels locally, so it doesn't rely on digestion the way a pill does. We teach you the technique in the clinic, and you go home with step-by-step videos to refer back to.
Who it suits: men for whom pills don't work well enough, cause side effects, or can't be used, and men after prostate surgery. What to expect: a clear explanation of your prescribed medicine and dose, hands-on training in the clinic, and follow-up to fine-tune it.
Also known as low-intensity shockwave or acoustic wave therapy
A handheld applicator sends gentle acoustic pulses into the tissue of the penis, aimed at improving blood flow. There are no needles, no medication and no downtime, and treatment is given as a course of short in-office sessions over several weeks.
Who it suits: men with mild to moderate ED linked to blood flow, especially those who would prefer to avoid or reduce medication. It is not a fit for everyone. It has been studied in clinical trials for improving blood flow, but it is not FDA-cleared for ED and the AUA guideline considers it investigational. Your physician will be straight with you about whether it is worth trying.
Treatments aren't either-or. Some men use ED medication while going through a course of Soundwave Therapy. Others keep injections for times when pills aren't enough. Because all three are available in one clinic, your physician can change the plan as you go without sending you elsewhere.
If your evaluation suggests something we don't treat, such as a problem that needs a urologist or your primary care doctor, we will tell you and point you in the right direction.
Cost and financing
Your first visit is a free consultation, with no obligation to start treatment. The cost after that depends on the treatment, the dose and how long the plan runs, so your physician walks you through the price before anything begins. There are no surprise charges.
Financing options are available to every patient. Most ED treatment is self-pay; if you have an HSA or FSA, ask us at your visit whether your plan can be used.

How much does ED treatment cost?

Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly online or by phone. If you have recent lab work or a list of your medications, bring it along, but you don't need anything from another doctor to be seen.
Which ED treatment is right for me?
That depends on what is causing your ED, your other health conditions, the medicines you take and what you would prefer. Many men start with ED medication. ED injections are an option when pills don't work well enough or can't be used. Soundwave Therapy may be considered for mild to moderate ED linked to blood flow. Your physician explains the trade-offs of each before you choose.
Does Soundwave Therapy work?
Low-intensity shockwave therapy has been studied in clinical trials for improving blood flow in men with ED, with mixed results. It is not FDA-cleared for ED, and the American Urological Association guideline still considers it investigational. We explain that up front so you can decide with the full picture.
What if ED pills haven't worked for me?
That is common, and it doesn't mean you are out of options. Sometimes the dose or timing needs adjusting. For other men, ED injections or a combination plan is a better fit. Your physician will go over what you have tried and why it may not have worked.
Is ED treatment at Aspire confidential?
Yes. Your consultation, records and conversations are handled under HIPAA, and the visit is private and one-to-one with your provider.
Is ED a sign of a bigger health problem?
It can be. The blood vessels in the penis are small, so problems with circulation sometimes show up there before anywhere else. ED can be linked to diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart disease, which is one reason we evaluate your overall health rather than just writing a prescription.
